Swedish Meatballs

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 600g beef mince
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 3/4 tsp salt

gravy

  • 40g butter
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup cream

Instructions

  1. Mix all meatball ingredients together.
  2. Form meatballs using approx 1 tablespoon full of the meat mixture each.
  3. Fry meatballs over high heat in skillet until brown all over, but still raw inside. Then, set aside.
  4. Add butter to skillet and melt.
  5. Add flour and stir in. Cook for 1min.
  6. Add the beef broth slowly, stirring as you go. Then, add meatballs back in.
  7. Turn up heat and simmer for 8-10min.
  8. Add cream and continue simmering for 2min.

Notes

  • Fits well to simple mash potato.
